The South Valley Water Reclamation Facility is located approximately 15 miles south of Salt Lake City on the West Bank of the Jordan River in West Jordan, Utah. This Facility provides wastewater treatment for the cities of Sandy, Herriman, Midvale, West Jordan, South Jordan, Riverton, Bluffdale, Draper, Copperton, and unincorporated portions of South Salt Lake County. This encompasses a 200-square mile service area. The South Valley Water Reclamation Facility Board consists of representatives from Midvale City, West Jordan City, Midvalley Improvement District, Sandy Suburban Improvement District, and South Valley Sewer District.

The facility is an oxidation ditch design and was put into service in 1985. The 1998 capacity was 38 million gallons per day, at a total construction cost of $40,000,000. In the year 2010 the capacity will be expanded to 50 million gallons per day.

The architectural design concept for the entire facility is based on softening the visual impact of a large industrial plant on a suburban area and creating compatibility with the character of the region.
